Green Mountain Eco Route – the world’s first biodiversity wine route
Conservation, Sustainability and Social Upliftment
The commitment of all members of the Green Mountain Eco Route is conservation, sustainability and social upliftment. All members belong to the Groenlandberg Conservancy. All wine growers and grape producers are Biodiversity Wine Initiative members or champions.
Our vision is to protect and conserve our unique natural heritage within the Cape Winelands – an outstanding place with iconic species whilst maintaining living, productive landscapes.
The Elgin Valley is the natural home for lovers of fresh food, cool-climate wines and beautiful country living. A lush garden valley only 45 minutes from Cape Town.
Ringed by mountains, its green rolling hills are a tapestry of orchards, vineyards and olive groves.
Situated some 70 kilometers east of Cape Town, this bountiful valley is developing a reputation for outstanding wines, characterised by their mineral undertones and complimented by good natural acidity, displaying an elegance that has its origins in our uniquely cool terroir.
